New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning wants to play at highest level – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has said that the team will not be disappointed if it does not make the postseason, but it will be awful for the players if they do not play at their highest level in Week 17 against National Football Conference (NFC)
East opponents, Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaking a day after his team’s defeat against the Baltimore Ravens, the quarterback admitted that the team is now in a tough situation as far as making the playoffs is concerned.
The Giants have lost their lead in NFC East after losing quite a few games of late, and they now are placed at second position in the division along with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants must win against the Eagles and improve their performance, especially as compared to the last two games in which the offence has failed them badly.
Manning has acknowledged that the team’s position is not that much good in the division, but the quarterback is still hopeful to play well. Manning’s focus is on improving the performance and playing at the highest level that could allow them to finish the
season on a positive note even if they do not make the playoffs.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Manning said:
“If the season is going to end, you want to try to end it on the highest note possible. At least go out there and play better football than we have over the last two weeks.”
He continued:
“Just play at a level that we know we can, have the chance to win a game and have some excitement in the locker room and have something that we can be proud about and see how the other games turn out. I can guarantee the worst feeling that we could possibly
have is if we go out there and don’t play at a high level.”
Manning’s own performance is not pretty commendable this season. He has been struggling to repeat the heroics he exhibited in the last season and led the team to winning the Super Bowl. The quarterback also has to perform well if the Giants want to win against
the Eagles.
