New York Giants rookie cornerback Jayron Hosley prepares for next three games – NFL News
New York Giants rookie cornerback Jayron Hosley is preparing to perform well in remaining games of the season.
Giants starting cornerback Prince Amukamara injured his hamstring during Week 14 game against New Orleans Saints. He is expected to miss next game against National Football Conference (NFC) South leaders Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, December 16.
Corey Webster, Justin Tyron and Jayron Hosley are available to replace him for the next big game.
Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said of Jayron Hosley:
“I don’t think he backs down from anybody. I don’t believe he thinks of himself as a smaller man. I think he thinks of himself as a football player who can go out and get the job done.”
Hosley said, via Giants’ website:
“Wherever I’m needed I’ll play, but at the end of the day I’m going to be playing corner. So I felt comfortable out there, I’m ready and I’m going to be prepared.”
According to Hosley, the team has supported him, and he has learned a lot from his team members. Since the expectations are high in the closing stages of the season, the rookie has to step up his game. To do so he has started preparing for the next games.
He has 23 tackles and an interception so far to his credit.
He said:
“I looked at it like if they put this much on me, they had that much confidence in me and depend on me. Coach always preaches to me that you’re not a rookie.”
Week 15 game will be tough for Giants, as Falcons are NFC South Champions and they have won 11 and lost only two games in this season.
Giants are leading NFC East by winning eight and losing five games. If they lose any of the next three games, they are expected to tie up with Washington Redskins or Dallas Cowboys.
They need to increase their performance level on the defence, by taking better decisions for the team, but not something that cannot be dealt with.
