New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw speaks of confrontation with head coach Tom Coughlin
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw is physical, aggressive and, well, emotional. A glimpse of his emotional outburst was witnessed on Sunday during the game against Washington Redskins, as the running back reportedly had some sort of confrontation
with head coach Tom Coughlin.
Although the head coach later refused to give details surrounding the event, the player and the coach were repeatedly asked the same question.
Bradshaw finally told the reporters what it was about. The player claimed that he wanted the team to run the ball during a play, but the coach did not want to go with that.
The running back mentioned that he got emotional and that was why he had an argument with the coach. According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“I’m just saying run the ball. Going on the field, a lot of my emotions kick in and I just want to help my team win as much as possible.”
Meanwhile, Coughlin has once again preferred keeping the matters to himself. When asked about the incident again, the head coach refrained from giving details, saying the matter was between him and the player.
Coughlin also said that the matter had been addressed and that there was no need of further dragging it. However, the Giants head coach briefly touched the topic and while he praised Bradshaw for his toughness, the coach maintained that the player must control
his emotions. He said:
“Well, there’s never been any question about Ahmad Bradshaw’s toughness, his intensity level…he plays the game hard. You’d like to have everybody play as hard he plays, to be honest with you. He gives it everything he’s got. You want people to recognise
that fact, but sometimes you do have to control yourself and control your emotions, and he’s working on it.”
Giants won the game with a close margin and that is why this matter seems done and dusted now. However, Bradshaw must realise that such reactions on the field might prompt the management to take some action against him as disciplinary issues are not compromised
in the league.
