New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle returns to practice – NFL News
New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle finally returned to practice on Thursday after receiving a head injury in Week 8 game against Dallas Cowboys last Sunday.
Rolle got injured when he was trying to avoid a hit to Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant. During one play, Rolle anticipated that the ball was going to get to Bryant. The safety tried to stop the receiver, who could not get the ball and in order to avoid the hit,
Rolle’s foot hit his teammate Corey Webster, forcing the safety to fall on the ground.
The safety has said that he was not concerned about what the tests would show after the injury and that he is feeling fine now.
According to the details present on Giants’ website, Rolle explained that incident and said:
“I was trying to avoid the collision once I saw him [Dez Bryant]… I saw the ball was falling and I just tried to avoid him. I didn’t want to get any penalties because I was coming. I was coming to do damage and once I saw that he wasn’t catching the ball,
I was trying to do my best to avoid him. My foot hit Webby as I was going down, so it kind of messed up my fall a little bit and had me all out of whack. But I’m all right.”
Rolle also said that he did not know if he had suffered a concussion, but maintained that he was feeling fine.
Meanwhile, head coach Tom Coughlin has also backed Rolle’s stance, saying that the player is cleared by the medical staff.
Coughlin also said that the safety looked fine on his return, but the head coach further wants to evaluate the player during Friday’s practice.
Although Rolle is feeling fine, his status is still questionable for Week 9 game against Pittsburgh Steelers. Giants are expected to make further announcement with respect to the player’s status on Friday.
By the looks of the things, it is expected that Rolle will play against Steelers, barring any setbacks during practice prior to the game.
Rolle has not missed any game this season and has so far registered 40 tackles and two interceptions in eight games.
