New York Giants’ safety Chad Jones might miss 2012 season – NFL News
New York Giants’ safety, Chad Jones, might have to wait another year before making his National Football League (NFL) debut as some recent reports have suggested that the player has not been given clearance to join the team’s minicamp.
Jones, who was selected by Giants in the 2010 draft, suffered a car accident a couple of months after being drafted.
The accident was so severe that he almost got himself killed. Jones was lucky enough to survive, but was unfortunate to miss the NFL.
After having more than 10 surgeries Jones is still waiting for an opportunity to make his NFL debut, but it looks like he will have to wait another year.
According to the New York Post, Jones has not been given clearance to attend Giants’ three-day rookie minicamp starting from Friday, May 11.
He is also expected to miss the training camp for veterans next month and might also not be able to attend preseason games. This goes to show that he might also miss the regular season games.
Last month, Jones had hoped to be a part of the team for the 2012 season in which Giants will be defending the Super Bowl title.
While highlighting his recovery and rehabilitation, Jones said that he would do his best to stay fit and healthy and make his NFL debut.
He said:
"I'm looking forward to being able to participate and show that I can still move around with the guys and I'm looking forward to it just to show them. Even if it's two or three reps to show that I can still do it and I still have it in me."
Jones also said that he had been working out since a long period of time and commented:
"It's something I've been working toward for the last two years, ever since the day of my car wreck. It's just going to be a great feeling being back there in a football atmosphere, being around teammates and being in a different city and being where Giants fans
are. Everything will be picture-perfect."
No official word has come regarding this development from the team management, but keeping the nature of the accident in mind, it will not be hard to believe that Jones might take some more time before getting completely healthy.
