New York Giants shrug off rainy weather forecast – NFL News Update
The New York Giants will to travel to San Francisco to play the National Football Championship (NFC) championship final on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
The weather forecast for the day is not so good, but the Giants, as usual, seem unbothered.
In the playoffs, the Giants have played one game on home and one on road.
Their first playoff game was against Atlanta Falcons, in which the weather was expected to be extremely cold. However, nothing extraordinary happened and the weather did not hinder their progress.
They travelled to Green Bay to play the Packers last week and managed a victory despite the changing weather conditions.
The BBC Weather has forecast showers and cloudy weather on Sunday.
When asked about how the weather is going to affect the game-play, Giants’ coach, Tom Coughlin, asserted that the team is not bothered by the weather.
It is, he said, a natural phenomenon, which cannot be changed or altered. He mentioned that the team is going to prepare for any weather condition.
“There isn’t going to be anything that we can do about it except go play in it. If we have to put the ball in a bucket of water a couple times this week, we will do that. We are going to prepare for whatever happens and hopefully be able to play our game,”
he said.
The same views were shared by safety Antrel Rolle, who said that the players could use ‘studded cleats’ to maintain grip on the ground if rain occurs. He urged the players to keep focus on the game and the conference championship title.
“You can’t worry about the weather conditions. That’s out of our control. That’s nothing we can control. That’s nothing we’re going to try to control,” Rolle said.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Victor Cruz has said that when the Giants were preparing for the Packers, similar sort of forecast was made. However, he said, the weather remained fine.
Cruz informed that he had seen the forecast, but mentioned that it keeps on changing every time.
“Clouds and stuff like to move around, so hopefully those rain clouds can move to the left a little bit.”
The Giants have repeatedly mentioned that the weather never bothers them. Thankfully for them, the weather conditions, despite the predictions, did not become severe. It will be interesting to see how they play on Sunday if the weather grows worse.
