New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks questionable for San Francisco 49ers game – NFL News
New York Giants have still not decided whether they will play wide receiver Hakeem Nicks in Week 6 game against San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, setting his for the game as questionable.
However, an encouraging development for both the team and the player was that Nicks took part in practice on Friday, October 12, giving strong indication that he might be able to return.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Nicks said:
“I practised. I did the majority of the practice – about four or five reps a period. About what I would normally do on a Friday practice. I did good. I had coach watching me, asking how I looked, was I compensating or anything like that. I wasn’t. So it
looked good. I feel good about it. We’ll see how I respond in the morning and then they’ll let me know.”
The wide receiver has not played any game since Giants’ Week 2 victory against Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the last three weeks during which Nicks missed the action, Giants waited to see any positive development that could result in Nicks’ inclusion in the squad. However, his foot injury did now allow him to step on the field.
Giants do not want to risk aggravating the receiver’s injury and that is why they have adopted a cautious approach when it comes to Nicks’ selection.
That being said, there is no denying that the receiver’s inclusion in the side will be a great boost to the offensive line, especially in the crucial game against 49ers.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, who has not confirmed anything as far as addition of Nicks in the squad against 49ers is concerned, said on the possibility for Nicks’ return:
“Well, naturally, big. That would be a huge asset for our team. But we’ll have to wait and see.”
Earlier, it was expected that Giants might announce Nicks’ status clearly on Friday. Even Nicks was told that he would know it on Friday, but that did not happen and now it is expected that the final announcement about Nicks’ participation will be made on
Saturday. The Giants might also spill the beans just a few hours before the game.
