New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz ‘embarrassed’ after Week 9 loss – NFL News
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has said that he feels embarrassment after losing Week 9 game against Pittsburgh Steelers.
The reason behind such dejection is not the defeat, but they way it came. Giants struggled badly on the field and their offence, in particular, was below par.
They failed to provide scoring opportunities when needed, dropped catches and could not get any noticeable results out of their playing drives.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Cruz said of the loss against Steelers:
“Just a little embarrassed. I felt like we wanted to come out there and play some solid football and get a quality victory over a quality team, not just for ourselves but also for the city and for the area but we just couldn’t get it done.”
Cruz and quarterback Eli Manning also missed some opportunities in the game against Steelers. The Giants quarterback is struggling since the last few games and although Giants won Week 8 game against Dallas Cowboys despite Manning’s below-par performance
they could not get a win against Steelers.
Cruz believes that Manning has the talent and potential to deal with his current decline in form. When asked if he thought Manning was in a slump, Cruz said:
“I think it’s just a matter of all of us getting on the same page and we’ll be all right. I won’t call it a slump, but it’s just a couple of bad games of where everybody is just not getting things done together and catching the football and moving the ball.”
Meanwhile, defensive Justin Tuck has said that all players in the locker room are frustrated with the defeat and the average performance from the team. Although the defence was still better than the offence, overall team performance was enough to defeat
Steelers, who played very well to get the win.
Tuck hoped that the team would be able to recover from this defeat and focus on next game that will be played against Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday. After that game, Giants will have their bye week and it will be great confidence booster for them if they
enter the bye with a win.
