New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz hopes to continue team effort – NFL News
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has asserted that the players must stay focused after securing a thrilling victory over National Football Conference (NFC) East opponent Washington Redskins last week.
The defending champions have another division game coming up next week as they will travel to face the Dallas Cowboys, who defeated the Giants in the season opener last month.
Although Giants are currently leading NFC East, their record against divisional opponents has not been very good this season. They are 1-2 in the division and the game against Cowboys is very important for them because if they lose, it might also threaten their lead in the division.
Giants have performed well during recent times and are currently on a three-game winning streak, but they have been consistently making some mistakes that could go against them.
Even in the game against Redskins, they made some flaws that allowed Redskins to excel and get the lead. Thanks to quarterback Eli Manning and his exceptional ability to handle pressure, Giants emerge victorious.
Cruz, who caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Manning against Redskins, feels that the team is heading in the right direction, but the receiver has asserted that the players must not get complacent because another big game is awaiting them.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Cruz said:
“Just the way we’re playing football right now, we feel good against any team, any opponent. So we just want to go in there and put our best foot forward and have a good week of practice and understand that it’s going to take all of us to win this game, as it is every game, but it’s going to take a full team effort and we’ve got to go in there and potentially get another win in the division.”
Meanwhile, he was also asked about the “emotional reaction” running back Ahmad Bradshaw had shown in the recent victory. The running back also reportedly had an argument with head coach Tom Coughlin on the field and Bradshaw also smacked Cruz in the helmet.
Cruz said of the incident:
“It’s nothing. It was cool. Ahmad is emotional when he’s out there playing, so it was just one of those things that happens.”
