New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz speaks of offensive woes – NFL News
During the last two games, New York Giants have shown such performance on the offence that cannot help them defend their National Football League (NFL) title.
From quarterback Eli Manning to wide receiver Victor Cruz, everyone seems to be struggling at their respective ends.
Whether it is tough defending from the opponents or lacklustre performance from the Giants’ offence, there is no denying that they must come out of the offensive slump as soon as possible.
Cruz, who had a few good games towards the start of the season, has also struggled during the last two games as he could not provide even a single touchdown in these games.
Against Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, Cruz only gained 23 yards on two receptions. In Week 9 game against Steelers, the receiver gained 67 yards on five receptions without getting any scoring move.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin admitted that Cruz was better against Steelers as compared to the game against Cowboys, but the head coach regretted that the receiver could not get any touchdown. According to the details present on Giants’ website, Coughlin said:
“Last week was not a good game for Victor (Cruz) and we didn’t get ourselves open. We put a lot of attention toward that today and we still didn’t get a whole lot of daylight.”
Meanwhile, Cruz shared his thoughts on the team’s offensive troubles after Week 9 defeat against Steelers and said:
“I think we all feel good going into every week and we do some good things in practice as far as understanding what defence we’re going up against and it’s just a matter of executing out there each and every week and we had some miscues today and as well as last week, so we’ve just got to bang away at it and get it squared away.”
After the defeat against Steelers, quarterback Eli Manning also shared almost the same sentiments and said that the team must execute well in order to give consistent winning performances on the offence.
The defeat against Steelers was Giants’ third of the season. They are still leading National Football Conference (NFC) East.
