New York Islanders host the Eastern Conference leaders, Philadelphia Flyers, in the fifth of six meetings
New York Islanders will host Philadelphia Flyers in one of the interesting games of Saturday.
This will be the fifth out of the six scheduled meetings between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have taken place, Flyers have won all four games.
The last and most game which was played on the 24th of February 2011 saw Islanders giving a tough time to Flyers but they managed to win the game 4-3 in the end after overtime.
Flyers are on a good string of run that has seen not losing a game in regulation time in their last eight games.
However, they have managed to emerge as winners on four out of these eight occasions.
Another of the disappointing results in Flyers camp was the shootout loss they suffered from the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The result was described by the players and the coach as totally unacceptable.
Islanders are out of the play-off picture and like the Senators have been playing the spoilers role very well.
They have managed to win their last three consecutive games out of which they last was a dominating win against the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 this past Tuesday.
Islanders were one of those teams who were coming up with decent results after the All-Star break winning 12 games in regulation time out of the 21 games played.
However, their recent form has put them out of the play-off picture as they have come up with two wins out of the last five games.
Their offence has deteriorated with the passage of games and they the 2-1 loss against the Atlanta Thrashers saw them coming up with only 15 shots on goal during the entire game.
"We were behind the play all night," John Tavares, who scored the Isles' only goal, said. "We were a little sluggish for the first two periods."
Islanders have played 75 games in the season so far out of which they have won 29 games in regulation time, 12 games in overtime to score a total of 70 points.
Flyers, on the other hand, have played 73 games out of which they have won 44 games in regulation, 10 games in overtime to score a total of 98 points.
