New York Islanders play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth and final meeting between the two sides
The second game of Tuesday will be played at the Nassau Coliseum as the New York Islanders played host to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two sides. Out of the three games that have taken place between the two sides, the Islanders won the first game while the Maple Leafs has won the last two games.
The most recent game between the two teams that took place on the 22nd February 2011, the Maple Leafs won the game 2-1 with Phil Kessel scoring the winning goal.
The game is very important for the Maple Leafs as they are within five points of the final play-off position while the Islanders are pretty much out of contention and a win would no more consolation for the team.
The Maple Leafs were going through some tough time after which they managed to lift themselves up and have won four games out of the last ten games.
The Islanders may seem an easy opponent considering the fact that they stand in the league with third fewest points. However, they have been in some decent form recently as they have scored 45 out of the total 60 points after the month of December.
They are third in the third list of teams with most points after December, the first is occupied by Boston Bruins with 47 while the second by the Devils with 46.
"You look at their record … it's as good as ours since the All-Star break," Wilson said. "We're going to have to be on our toes. They're loosey-goosey right now. The games don't have the same meaning probably to the Islanders at the moment as they do to
us, so the pressure's on us. But we've handled that pretty well so far. We've got to be ready. They're a good, fast-skating team. They have an awful lot of skill up front that they don't get credit for."
The Maple Leafs have played 66 games out of which they have won 29 games in regulation time, nine games in overtime to score a total of 67 points.
On the other hand, the Islanders have played 67 games out which they have won 25 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime to score a total of 60 points.
The Islanders had a decent past weekend during which they scored three out of a possible four points.
They won 5-2 against the St. Louis Blues and scored a point after suffering a 3-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils after shootout.
"I think these guys were 19-2-2 in the last 23 games, so I think we gave them a really good game," forward PA Parenteau said of New Jersey. "We played as hard as we could and we didn't give them much. (Al Montoya) played well. We were as patient as we should
be against these guys. As far as a statement, I think it was a positive one."
