New York Islanders wins 4-3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a very close match between the two sides
The second game of Tuesday was played at the Nassau Coliseum as the home team, New York Islanders, was up against Toronto Maple Leafs.
A win for either of the teams would give them a lot of confidence and chances to move into the play-off cut.
The game started off on the slower side with no goals in the opening period.
However, a goals’ fiesta was observed in the second period which saw the scores level on 2-2.
During the final period both teams scored a goal apiece as the period and regulation time ended with the scores level.
The game went into overtime where Islanders managed to score the winning goal and wrap up the game 4-3 in the end.
Blake Comeau was named the star of the game as he made an important assist and scored the winning goal for Islanders.
Both teams made a decent start to the game as they came up with shots on goal and decent passing abilities.
However, one thing they couldn’t manage was finding the back of the net. They failed to capitalise from the start of the game.
The period ended with the scores level on 0-0. During the course of the period, Islanders came up with 11 shots on goal while Maple Leafs managed to come up with 9 shots on goal.
The second period was very interesting with both teams coming up with some brilliant plays. This resulted in quite a few goals scored during the period.
Islanders took the lead with a goal in the third minute which was scored by Zenon Konopka from a simple tip in shot.
The joy was short-lived as Maple Leafs managed to score in the same minute through Keith Aulie from a quick a fired shot to level the scores.
Both the teams were determined to score more goals and it wasn’t until the 12th minute that Islanders scored another goal through Frans Nielsen from a brilliant tip in shot to get into the lead once again.
However, Maple Leafs scored once again in the 19th minute through Tim Brent from a decent strike to level the scores once again.
The period ended with the scores level on 2-2. During the period, Maple Leafs made 9 shots on goal while Islanders made 14 shots on goal.
The final period also saw quite a few shots on goal by both teams with Islanders coming up with 12 while Maple Leafs made 8 shots on goal.
Both teams scored a goal apiece with Islanders taking the lead with Michael Grabner scoring in the 9th minute.
However, Maple Leafs scored in the very next minute through Nikolai Kulemin to level the scores.
The game went into overtime where Islanders scored through Blake Comeau in the fifth minute through a simple tip-in shot to win the game 4-3.
