New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis lays into New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick - NFL News
New York Jets cornerback, Darrelle Revis is no fan of New England Patriots coach, Bill Belichick and quarterback, Tom Brady.
After calling the Patriots head coach a “jerk” in an earlier interview with
ESPN, the cornerback was at it again on Thursday.
Speaking in the team locker room after practice, Revis was asked about his comment on Belichick. The cornerback replied in a manner that would make Jets head coach, Rex Ryan proud.
According to the Star-Ledger, Revis said.
"I feel like people let him slide when he says his smart remarks and certain things and he says comments about us like he never coached here, which he did, and that's how I felt. They told me to sum it up and I gave one word. He can take it however he wants.”
The cornerback was asked what Belichick had done or said to the Jets to make him so angry with the future Hall of Fame head coach.
Revis responded by saying.
"It's just the smart comments he says. It's ignorant. It's ignorant (toward) this organization."
Adding further he said.
"When you say certain comments about the Jets, some things are disrespectful. It's OK to have a rivalry, it's OK to compete. But when it gets personal, then it gets disrespectful.”
The Jets-Patriots rivalry is one of the biggest sports rivalries in America and the hatred is mutual between the organisations and their fans.
Both teams face each other for the first time on Sunday, October 21st at the Gillette Stadium and even though that game is still far off the early trash talk by Revis will raise the stakes further.
Revis’ comments are unsurprising since the franchise is known for making premature statements before disappointing on the field.
Last season the franchise had claimed that they were going to win the Super Bowl after reaching the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship consecutively over the last two years, however, what followed was a collapse of epic proportions as the Jets
failed to even reach the playoffs.
Hopefully this year will be different for the franchise and they can overcome their problems to reach the playoffs once again.
