New York Jets DE D'Brickashaw Ferguson says QB Tim Tebow's arrival was unexpected - NFL News
There were not many people in the National Football League (NFL) to whom the New York Jets trade with Denver Broncos for quarterback, Tim Tebow, was not a shock.
Tebow made the move this offseason after the Denver Broncos brought in four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Peyton Manning as their starting quarterback.
The Jets grabbed Tebow after trading a fourth and sixth round draft pick to the Broncos and made him the most high-profile backup in the National Football League.
Offensive tackle, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, was taken completely by surprise when he first heard about the move and in a radio interview expressed what he felt when Tebow’s move was first confirmed on the media.
According to SportsRadioInterviews he said.
"I think everyone was taken aback at first. Like, wow, nobody knew what to expect,"
Adding further he said.
"but I met with the man and he's got a good head on his shoulders and he's real passionate. I think we'll have to wait and see until the season because not only will it be exciting to see what does happen.”
Tebow’s arrival led to a flurry of media activity and most analysts dismissed the move as just a marketing trade and nothing more.
However, the Jets have stated that they nabbed Tebow for sporting reasons only and have planned to use the quarterback as part of a wildcat formation which is a signature of new offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano.
Ferguson said that Tebow’s arrival will make the opposition think twice about the Jets offence and he believes that the roster now boasts great quarterbacks which will help them reach their goals in the 2012-13 season.
“It's going to make a lot of other teams really have to second guess what we'll be doing because we have the advantage of having great quarterbacks, and now we have the opportunity to do what we want with what we have."
It will be interesting to see how the Jets perform with Tebow and Sanchez spreading their snaps in offence.
The Jets missed out on the playoffs last year but this time they have their eyes on returning back to the postseason.
