New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez and WR Santonio Holmes work out together in Florida - NFL News
It seems calm and camaraderie is returning back to the New York Jets locker room this season as both wide receiver, Santonio Holmes and quarterback, Mark Sanchez have buried the hatchet once and for all.
Both players are currently practicing in Florida and Holmes personal trainer Tom Shaw told the
Star-Ledger on Tuesday, that the wide receiver had personally made the call to Sanchez to come over and practice ahead of the Jets official Organised Team Activities (OTAs).
Shaw talking to the newspaper said that both Holmes and Sanchez were close friends and have moved on from their infamous feud last season.
"I know for a fact Santonio Holmes and Mark Sanchez are close,"
He also added that tight end, Dustin Keller and wide receiver, Patrick Turner had joined up with them and Sanchez was leading the workouts.
"Mark was in charge, everyone was listening to his instructions. Guys from other teams, too. (Titans running back) Chris Johnson, Larry Taylor, who used to be with the Jets. Once we finished the workout for the day, Sanchez took over. He was in charge of
the whole offensive part. He is working hard, and he's doing everything he can to get better."
This is good news for Jets fans who had to witness a season collapse in 2011-12 as relations between Holmes and Sanchez nosedived and all locker room harmony was lost with players coming on the media to pan Sanchez’s leadership skills.
Practicing well before the start of official team workouts it seems that both players are ready to reignite their partnership which took the Jets to two American Football Conference (AFC) Championship games in the previous seasons.
Shaw believes that the quarterback has never looked better to him and the Jets are lucky to have him calling the shots in offence.
"I'm pretty impressed with Sanchez, I really am. I think he's someone the Jets are lucky to have."
The Jets ended the 2011-12 season 8-8 and missed out on the playoffs for the first time in the tenure of coach Rex Ryan.
Hopefully Holmes and Sanchez can end their differences for good and get the Jets back into the playoffs in the new 2012-13 season.
