New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has nothing but praise for backup Tim Tebow - NFL News
Analysts across media said unanimously that quarterback, Tim Tebow’s arrival at the New York Jets would start a quarterback controversy and would unsettle starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez.
All that could however, turn out to be false as Sanchez talked to the media about his experience with Tebow during the voluntary workouts.
The 25-year-old had nothing but praise and positive comments about his new backup and said that his arrival at the franchise motivates him to work harder and compete.
"From a competitor standpoint, he’s great. He’s what you want in an offseason program — working hard, competing with the guy in the weight room. This is a big, strong guy, so it’s good for me. That’s been one of my goals this offseason — putting on a little
more muscle mass. I’ve taken a beating during the season. It’s been a good transition and Tim’s been great."
It seems that their relationship has gone off to a good start and both players have struck up a cordial and competitive relationship, the exact opposite of what analysts predicted.
The Jets traded for the hugely popular quarterback as they gave Denver Broncos a fourth and sixth round pick to bring Tebow to the Big Apple.
Tebow is known for his good personality and his niceness seems to have rubbed off on Sanchez who praised his backup’s character during the chat.
“He’s been as advertised, as good of a guy, if not better, than anybody said. So, he’s been a great addition so far. I’m thrilled to work with him."
The Jets will need all the niceness they can get after their last season which ended with public spats in the locker room.
Sanchez famously feuded with wide receiver, Santonio Holmes and the quarterback also faced criticism from anonymous players who went to the media to vent their frustrations.
The dysfunctional locker room led to three crucial losses for the Jets at the tail-end of the regular season and they ended up with an 8-8 record while also missing out on the playoffs.
This year the franchise is looking to get back into the postseason and hopefully Tebow’s arrival will lead to a better 2012-13 campaign.
