New York Jets QB Tim Tebow praises former Denver Broncos teammates at Award Ceremony
Quarterback, Tim Tebow had an amazing season with the Denver Broncos but one moment from last season signified everything about the quarterback’s never-say-die attitude.
That was the 80-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas in the wild-card playoff game against Pittsburgh Steelers.
The play was hugely significant as the Broncos upset Steelers and went on to qualify for the American Football Conference (AFC) divisional round game.
At Wednesday’s ESPY Awards Tebow and Demaryius Thomas received the Best Moment Award for the touchdown.
Both players took to the stage although only Tebow spoke.
The quarterback who has now joined the New York Jets after a trade during the current offseason thanked and praised his former teammate.
After receiving the award Tebow said:
"To be honest, I probably would've voted for Bubba (Watson), but Bubba, you know I love you, but you did win my golf tournament, so hopefully that will suffice."
He continued:
"I want to congratulate DT, that was a heck of a play. He was amazing all year, especially when he needed to come up big, and that was a pretty nasty stiff-arm.”
Tebow and the Broncos went into overtime against the Steelers locked at 23-23.
The Broncos took first possession and on the first play of the game Tebow connected with a beautiful pass to Thomas who dodged tackles and made it to the end-zone to stun Pittsburgh and knock them out of the playoffs.
Tebow went on to add:
"I also want to congratulate and thank all of my old teammates -- take care of them, Peyton -- and I just want to thank them all."
The quarterback should not worry much about his former team as under Peyton Manning they have a four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) to guide the offence.
With Manning leading the charge, Denver fans are expecting a run to the Super Bowl something they did not even fathom with Tebow.
Now with the Jets, Tebow will be backup to starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez, and will be looking to help his new team return back to the playoffs after they failed to qualify last year with a poor 8-8 record.
