New York Jets QB Tim Tebow to speak at Christian universities this week - NFL News
New York Jets quarterback, Tim Tebow is one of the most religious players in the National Football League (NFL) and has become a huge role model for Christians across America as he combines his faith with the impressive success he enjoys on the football
field.
The 24-year-old will this week talk about his faith and football at two Christian universities in Ohio with his first appearance at the Ohio Christian University on Tuesday and will follow it up with a visit to Cincinnati Christian University on the very
next day.
The quarterback will take part in the private forums without any reporters from the media.
According to Steve Carr who is a spokesman for one of the universities he expects around 2000 people to hear the Jets backup quarterback speak at the event and said that all costs have been dealt with by donors.
This is not the first of Tebow’s speaking engagements with the public as he delivered an Easter service at a Texas church to around 15,000 people who travelled to see the quarterback with many wearing his new number 15 New York Jets jerseys.
The quarterback’s fame was already huge before being drafted but his popularity really shot up through the roof as he took over the starting role at the Denver Broncos in 2011-12.
At Denver, Tebow led the franchise to multiple comeback victories with most of them coming in the final few minutes.
The franchise ended the season at 8-8 and qualified for the playoffs while also lifted the American Football Conference (AFC) West division title.
In the playoff wildcard round, Tebow once again showed his magic after helping the Broncos keep pace with Ben Roethlisberger and his Pittsburgh Steelers.
Both teams ended regulation time at 23-23 before Tebow combined with wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas in the first play of overtime for an 80-yard touchdown.
The Broncos though were knocked out in their very next game by divisional round opponents New England Patriots.
In the offseason the Broncos traded Tebow to the New York Jets after bringing in free-agent quarterback, Peyton Manning.
Tebow will now once again take over the backup role at the Jets and will look to help his new team to glory in the new 2012-13 season.
