New York Jets quarterback, Tim Tebow, takes his duties on the field seriously and that is why none of the criticism levelled against his playing style gets to him.
The quarterback also takes his off the field duties as a role model to kids seriously as well and wants to be seen as someone that can help the children become better adults.
Tebow is a devout Christian and does not swear like many of his colleagues nor has he been found to be involved in incidents off the field that might embarrass his franchise.
The quarterback spends most of his time away from football helping a number of causes he champions as well as promoting the Christian faith.
Tebow’s huge popularity as well as charisma makes him one of the most followed personalities on social media and he wants to leverage that to help children.
Speaking at a Father’s Day event called "Father's Day 2012 -- Encouraging Men to Live, Love and Lead." in Qualcomm Stadium, in San Diego, the quarterback said that there are not many good role models in sports for kids to follow.
Tebow said, according to NFL Network.
"Last time I said it I got a lot of flak for it, but I don't care, there are a lot of role models out there, just there aren't many good ones.”
He continued further,
"To me, that's so frustrating because you have in today's society so many famous athletes in baseball and basketball and football and golf, every sport there is. If we come together to be great role models it would be amazing to see how the next generation
turns out."
Tebow went on to say that he looked up to former quarterback, Danny Wuerffel when he was growing up and he wants to emulate the same thing with himself and the current generation.
"He was a huge role model for me and that is my dream and my passion to be a great role model for the next generations and the boys who are looking up to me and their dream is to be a quarterback and a great football player.”
If the quarterback continues to perform like he did last season for the Denver Broncos, he will continue to rise in popularity and realise his dream of becoming a great role model for the kids.
