New York Jets TE Dustin Keller praises new OC Tony Sparano's approach to training - NFL News
New York Jets tight end, Dustin Keller is highly impressed with the way new Jets offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano is making players concentrate on training like never before.
Sparano took over offensive coordinator duties at the Jets after Brain Schottenheimer moved on to take over the same position at the St. Louis Rams.
Keller is impressed with the way Sparano’s no-nonsense approach is making players feel more accountable for their mistakes and is enjoying the way the new coordinator is training the players ahead of the new 2012-13 season.
According to The Star-Ledger Keller praised Sparano’s approach and says the team need more discipline after last season’s catastrophic end.
"He definitely runs a tighter ship than I've seen from anyone before, and he’s not going to let anyone slip up,"
Adding further he said.
"I think that’s when problems do arise. It’s going to continue. You can tell it’s not just a one day or an OTA thing, this thing is going to keep on going and going, and I think we need it."
The Jets missed out on the playoffs last season after they lost the last three games of the season. Things were made much worse when it was revealed to the public that players were feuding with each other and there was an inherent lack of team chemistry
in the offensive roster.
Keller went on to add that meetings under Schottenheimer were much more laid back but now when Sparano is talking all the players listen intently.
"When Sparano is in there talking, all eyes are on him. It’s a change. Before, I would say it was a little more laid-back. But with him it’s more stern, and he just has everybody’s attention, and I think guys are paying more attention to details now more
than ever."
New York Jets need significant change from last season.
The franchise this year is looking to get back into the playoffs and Sparano’s biggest task is to incorporate both quarterback, Mark Sanchez and backup, Tim Tebow into his offensive plans while utilising both players undoubted talents.
This is a big year for the Jets and all eyes will be on them in the upcoming season.
