New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley says Tim Tebow throws are faster than Mark Sanchez
The arrival of quarterback, Tim Tebow to the New York Jets has had an impact unlike any other for a backup quarterback.
Tebow’s arrival led to a media frenzy which culminated in a highly anticipated and much covered press conference on the Jets training pitch while also leaving analysts to question whether the franchise will face a quarterback controversy.
However, the Jets have always remained adamant that quarterback, Mark Sanchez remains the starter with Tebow providing backup.
That has not stopped comparisons in the media though and another surfaced on Wednesday, when Jets wide receiver, Jeremy Kerley who in the voluntary workouts took throws from both quarterbacks talked about the two signal callers’ ball delivery.
Kerley talking to The Star-Ledger on Wednesday said that Tebow’s throws had more power than those he receives from Sanchez.
"Different than Mark, different than Mark. (Tebow's) ball comes out a little bit stronger, but he's accurate, he's more accurate than what I thought he was going to be. But he's a good dude, he has a great personality, he'll bring a lot of personality to the team."
The receiver also went on to add that he was surprised that the Jets brought in Tebow from Denver after a trade.
"It was a good shocked. We got a winner on our team. Obviously, that's what he is. I was shocked but I was happy."
Kerley also said that Tebow’s throwing speed is far greater than Sanchez.
"A LOT, a lot more velocity. No diss to Mark, he brings it, man."
No one ever doubted that Tebow will not provide some tough competition to the incumbent Jets quarterback from the first day of his arrival.
However, Tebow even though he has great arm-strength continues to struggle with his accuracy on the field a fact shown clearly by his 47.3% pass completion rate as a starter for the Broncos.
The quarterback worked on his passing in the offseason and the former Heisman Trophy winner has time this offseason to improve on his game.
The Jets ended the last season with a poor 8-8 record and missed the playoffs but this year they are looking to bounce back and perform better in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
