New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes concerned only about new season - NFL News
After what was certainly one of the darkest times at the New York Jets it seems the clouds of misery are clearing as the players came to the training facility on Monday to work out and prepare for the start of the new 2012-13 season.
It seems everyone at the franchise is looking to put behind them the horror of last season which saw wide receiver, Santonio Holmes and quarterback, Mark Sanchez start a feud that led to the Jets season crumbling beneath their feet.
In the offseason both Holmes and Sanchez made peace trained together.
The wide receiver talked to the media for the first time since the 2011-12 season finale in Miami and said that he has moved on from everything that happened in the past year.
"That happened in the past. We're worried about the 2012 season, and if you're not concerned with that, we don't have anything else to talk about."
Centre, Nick Mangold also talked with the press after practice and said that last year was a new experience for the whole team and this is a new Jets side that is pulling in the same direction.
"This is the 2012 Jets, and we're looking forward to making it a much better year than it was last year."
Holmes called Sanchez to Florida to train together and he told reporters that both players have established their friendship once again.
"I think it's the leadership part of Mark. He's portraying those leadership qualities of being a guy that's going to be here for a while. By reaching out to me and wanting to spend some time with me and just chit chat and put everything behind us, I think
it was a great thing for he and I to establish."
Both players had their daggers drawn at each other in the final games of the offseason as locker room harmony descended into chaos.
Sanchez’s leadership was criticised publicly in the media by a group of anonymous teammates and with zero harmony in the locker room the franchise lost three games in a row ending up 8-8 and missing out on the playoffs.
Hopefully for them the 2012 Jets can keep their locker room problems on the side and get back to winning ways.
