New York Jets acquire wide receiver Braylon Edwards of waivers – NFL News
Facing a dearth of healthy wide receivers on the roster, New York Jets re-signed wide receiver Braylon Edwards off the waivers on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.  The player passed physical test and was cleared by the team to participate in the practice session.
Edwards has been acquired months after he was released by Seattle Seahawks after the player got a hamstring injury.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan has indicated that Edwards would participate in Week 15 game against Tennessee Titans on Monday, December 17.
Edwards has been added into the Jets line-up a week after the player tweeted some derogatory comments about the Jets administration for the way they had handled quarterback Mark Sanchez.
The wide receiver was available on Thursday, December 13, to comment on his return to the Gang Green. Edwards said:
"I always wanted to come back, but after this offseason, not really getting a phone call, I kind of thought that was it. I moved on mentally... Turn back the clock? Come on, I'm 29, I'm ready. You'll get a chance to see when I get out there."
Edwards has an impressive record teaming up with Sanchez. Both the players had 10 touchdowns along with each other during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Ryan made it clear that he has no reservations about what Edwards said previously as the player has already apologised about his behaviour. Ryan said:
"There are things, privately, where I've been called a lot worse from players."
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll recently told the media that the team released the player on the basis of understanding that Edwards would not be able to get fully fit before the end of the season. Giving his views about this issue, Edwards said:
"I don't think Pete has an MD. That was what they thought. That was his opinion and everybody is entitled to theirs. The Jets have a different opinion."
Edwards was drafted by Cleveland Browns as third overall pick in 2005. The player has not been able to impress with his performance ever since leaving the Jets, which has led to suspicion that Edwards has lost his pace and fitness with time.
