Against Miami Dolphins
After the unsuccessful three-game road trip, Jets returned home to host Miami Dolphins.
Jets continued their winning momentum on the home field going and overcame the Dolphins rather easily.
Dolphins started the game well and took the lead after scoring a field goal, which was followed by a touchdown from Jets.
The same scoring moves were repeated in the second quarter in which Dolphins got three points while Jets managed seven.
The halftime score settled at 14-6 in favour of Jets.
The Jets increased their lead by scoring a field goal in the third quarter and added a touchdown in the final to win the game.
After snapping the three-game losing streak, Jets were 3-3 after six games.
Jets coach, Rex Ryan, was excited to win the game and was hoping for more wins. He said after the game:
"In every locker room, things like this happen. Trust me, we're past that thing. It's unfortunate that it happened. We're chasing a much bigger thing than that. We're moving forward."
Against San Diego Chargers
After getting back on winning ways, Jets played the next game against the San Diego Chargers. To Jets’ advantage, the game was played on their home field on which they had not lost any game yet.
Chargers started the game well and got the first scoring move of the game in the form of a touchdown. Jets could only get a field goal in the first quarter.
The Chargers increased their lead by scoring two touchdowns in the second quarter in which Jets could only manage one touchdown. The halftime score settled at 21-10 in favour of Chargers.
Trailing by 11 points when Jets entered the field after the halftime, they had some different plans.
They were strong on defence in the second half and did not allow any scoring move in the third and fourth quarter. Not only that, Jets scored a touchdown in the third quarter and got 10 points in the final to win the game.
The final score settled at 27-21 in favour of Jets.
Plaxico Burress, who caught three touchdown-passes in the game, said after the victory:
"Every morning you wake up on Sundays and you want to be great I had to let the game come to me. I think I've been forcing it. But this was them saying, 'He's been working hard, we'll stick with it.'”
At Buffalo
After enjoying their bye week, Jets once again travelled and played a road game against the Buffalo Bills. In the season, they had failed to win an away game, but this encounter was going to end the drought.
Jets were dominant after a dry start as the first quarter went goalless for both teams.
In the second quarter, Jets scored a field goal and got two touchdowns and another field goal in the third quarter in which Bills got their first scoring move in the form of a field goal.
Both teams scored a touchdown each in the final quarter as Jets won the game, 27-11.
Jets’ defensive tackle, Sione Pouha, said after the win:
"It's totally attitude. Jet-i-tude is the way we look at it. Today we displayed what Jet football is all about."
After playing a total of eight games in the season, Jets were 5-3.
