New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow hopeful to play in his home town in Week 14 – NFL News
New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow is excited on having a chance to return to his home town of Jacksonville and is hopeful to get fit for the Jets’ Week 14 game against Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, December 09, 2012.
Tebow said his injury is getting better as the week is progressing. However, the player remained limited during the practice session on Wednesday, December 05.
If Tebow gets a chance to play on the field come Sunday, it will be the first time since his rookie season that he will step on the EverBank Field. Talking about his chances playing against Jaguars during a press conference on Wednesday, Tebow said:
"I have a lot of family and friends who will be there. Jacksonville will always be a special place to me. It's where I grew up and where a lot of my family still calls home. It will be a lot of fun."
Tebow got injured during Week 10 game against Seattle Seahawks. Despite getting a few snaps against St. Louis Rams, Tebow was unable to play further after aggravating the injury.
The player was cleared to play in Week 13, but Ryan decided not to get the player on the field. Tebow went through X-rays which showed some betterment in the injury, but the player still has fractures on the broken rib. Tebow went on and said:
"I just try to do what the trainers and doctors say and what the coach asks me to do. That's all I can control... It's not 100 percent, but I can still throw OK."
Tebow also spoke about the Jets’ third-string quarterback Greg McElroy who went to score the winning touchdown for the team after replacing the starting quarterback Mark Sanchez in Week 13 victory against Arizona Cardinals.
The backup quarterback appreciated the way McElroy played during the game and expects to see more competition from him. Tebow said:
"It was definitely a great opportunity for Greg, and I'm happy he did so well and won. We're competitors and we all want to play."
Even if Tebow gets fully fit before the game against Jaguars, he will likely sit out most of the game unless Sanchez resumes his flurry of errors on the field.
