New York Jets bring in WR Stephen Hill with second round pick - NFL News
New York Jets general manager, Mike Tannenbaum was at it again in the second round as he traded New York’s 47th overall pick for the second round to the Seattle Seahawks to move up to number 43.
Tannenbaum also gave the Seahawks a fifth and seventh round selection for the move.
All that seems to be worth it as the Jets selected Georgia Tech’s wide receiver and one of the fastest players in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) Combine, Stephen Hill at number 43.
Hill brings great athleticism and speed to the Jets and his arrival will also take off pressure from starter Santonio Holmes.
Jets general manager, Mike Tannenbaum was excited at the pick and said.
"We feel real fortunate to get Stephen Hill in the second round. We had to move up a little bit to make sure that we got him, but we are really excited to get Stephen. He has a chance to come in, play right away and start right away."
Adding further Tannenbaum praised his new receiver’s football acumen and said that he believes Hill can quickly adjust to the Jets offence.
“We really feel he can run all the routes we'll ask in our offense. Again, he was a very good blocker in a run-oriented offense. He has very good football acumen and we feel the transition can happen really quickly,"
Hill’s arrival will add some speed to the Jets offence and provide quarterback, Mark Sanchez with another option.
New York Jets picked North Carolina defensive end, Quinton Coples in the first round and also brought in linebacker, Demario Davis of Arkansas State with their third round draft pick.
The franchise’s picks look good and the Jets seem to be concentrating on filling some holes in their roster with new young talent as they look to get back into the playoffs in the 2012-13 season.
Jets ended last year’s regular season with a poor 8-8 record while also missing out on the playoffs as the team completely collapsed in the final stretch due to locker room problems.
Hopefully the franchise’s new drafts can live with all the drama surrounding the franchise as they meet their new teammates at training camp.
