New York Jets coach Rex Ryan will give New England Patriot's coach Bill Belichick his “best shot”
Following the New York Jets Thursday 25 November win against the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan set his sights on next week's pivotal match-up against the New England Patriots.
"It's the marquee game of the year," Ryan said Friday.
Ryan expressed his admiration for New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, and feels next week’s match-up will be a great battle. "I pride myself on being a good football coach," Ryan said. "With the guys that I have around us, I feel confident, but I'm
still not in Bill Belichick's class, and I know that. But I know one thing: He's going to get my best shot."
Both teams are coming off wins from Thursday’s Thanksgiving contests. The teams are tied for the NFL's best record at 9-2. The Jets sit in first in the AFC East, having beaten the Patriots earlier this year.
Ryan built anticipation towards next week’s match-up during yesterday’s post-game comments. “The fact that it's a divisional game, I guess the only way it would be better if it was the last game of the regular season. But this is pretty good right here,"
said Ryan.
The Jets will need to play possibly their best game of the season. While New York defeated the Patriots earlier in the year at home, New England have been nearly unbeatable at Foxborough under Tom Brady.
"They're certainly confident playing at home in particular, but, hey, it's going to be, in my opinion, the best two teams in football squaring off against each other and we'll see what happens on the field,” Ryan proclaimed.
The quarterback has accumulated 25 straight wins in front of home fans.
"Obviously, they're playing great. They're making big plays on defence, but their offence, that's where you start with. They seemed at times, almost looked like they were unstoppable. I'm pretty confident where our team is right now.” Ryan stated.
Both teams will enjoy a three-day weekend, before returning to practice on Monday.
