New York Jets continue to be plagued by injuries as Tomlinson fears missing second game – NFL News
New York Jets’ LaDainian Tomlinson is feared to miss his second consecutive game. Tomlinson sustained a knee injury back in week 11 as the Jets succumbed to the New England Patriots. Tomlinson’s left medial collateral ligament
had been hurt during the game. The injury forced him to miss the game against the Denver broncos.
And now it seems the injury still persists and chances of Tomlinson playing the next game look bleak. Tomlinson has not practiced a single time since his injury.
Jets coach Rex Ryan was hopeful that he would be better by Friday and will practice.
"I'm not sure, this could be one of those game-timers. Hopefully, he feels better on Friday." Ryan said.
Tomlinson has been determined since his injury to return to the team. He had earlier expressed his willingness to be part of the team in this Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. However he faced what Ryan called a “setback”
in rehab last week followed by another one on Monday. Tomlinson was absent from practice on Wednesday and the details could not be discerned as he has not spoken to the media for a week.
The Jets have running backs Shonn Greene and Joe McKnight to fill in the gap, which is why they are not greatly necessitated on bringing Tomlinson into the game. Greene had earlier injured his ribs in the first quarter of last
Thursday’s game against the Broncos.  However, he practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday and would be available for the next game.
Also uncertain for action seems wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. Kerley has sprained his knee and has been missing practice since the past 10 days. However Ryan received a message from Kerley stating his availability to practice on
Friday.
"I think they both feel better today, so, hopefully, that's a good sign," Ryan said referring to Kerley and Tomlinson.
"Hopefully, Friday, we can get them out there." Ryan further added.
As for Tomlinson and Kerley’s practice on Monday, the coach said that they had suffered a setback. The coach now wants to see Joe McKnight doing a good job for the Jets.
"Yeah, I thought Joe played really well," Ryan said. "He ran with some power inside, and those are good things to see from Joe."
When Tomlinson missed out against the Broncos, rookie Bilal Powell made his debut in NFL. However, now the running back could not practice due to an illness.
