New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis doubtful for Week 3 game – NFL News
After being declared unavailable for the New York Jets game against Pittsburgh Steelers, cornerback Darrelle Revis is facing possibility of missing another game as his status is doubtful for Week 3 game against Miami Dolphins on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan recently gave his opinion about Revis’ status for the Jets upcoming trip to Miami. When asked about whether he will be available for the game, Ryan said:
"I don't think we can assume that. To the NFL standards, he has to pass tests. He looks to be doing well, so hopefully he'll be playing."
Ryan did not give any further details about Revis’ injury. The cornerback suffered a mild concussion during Week 1 game against Buffalo Bills after he got a head hit from teammate linebacker Bart Scott in an accidental collision.
Revis was able to do light practice last Friday, but was not fit enough to play in Week2 game against Steelers.
Revis talked with the media for the first time since his injury and looked quite satisfied with his progress. He said:
“I feel pretty good. The only way we can figure it out is the things that I'm doing test-wise, what the doctors are putting me through. From those results, they're showing up great, and I've just got to keep on passing those tests and move forward."
The cornerback did not have any issue with the team resting him against Steelers as he acknowledged that he was not fit enough to play in that game.
Revis said that although he has a minor concussion, it can take some time to on recovery as he will go through all the procedures to get clearance to play. Revis said:
“Any blow to the head, you have to take it serious. Mild, severe, whatever it could be, it's still a head injury and that's how you've got to look at it."
If Revis remains unavailable for the game on Sunday, Jets will start with cornerback Kyle Wilson who played well in the Jets' 27-10 loss to Steelers.
