New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis suffering from added swelling in his leg
The status of New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is question due to an injury to his leg. Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed on Tuesday, October 12, that Revis was suffering from added swelling and soreness in his hamstring.
But Ryan is optimistic that Revis will be ready to go by Sunday, when the Jets look to win their fifth game (in a row) against the Denver Broncos in Denver.
Revis' hamstring has been a problem ever since week one, when the Jets lost 10-9 to the Baltimore Ravens. Since that game, Revis has been limited in practice, played only the first half against the New England Patriots in week two, and missed games against
the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills before playing last Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
"As of right now, we're going to take it day by day, like we've been doing, and see how it goes," Revis told the
New York Daily News.
"This process is kind of frustrating, because I've never been hurt during the season," Revis added. "I want to be out there so bad with my teammates and win games. I need to learn patience right now and get back to 100 percent. ... When that happens, I can
play the type of ball that I can play."
Rex Ryan made it clear that, despite the persistent problems with Revis' hamstring, if his cornerback is healthy enough to play, he will be in the lineup.
"If he's healthy, we want to play Darrelle...It's not vacation time. It's time to beat somebody. This is an AFC opponent and we need to win games so we can get into the postseason. That would be my thought. Is he going to be better three weeks from now if
we don't play him or all that? I think that still has to be determined."
