New York Jets cornerback will miss second straight game
Since finally deciding to end his holdout on the New York Jets, cornerback Darrelle Revis has only seen one full game of action, and it looks like "Revis Island" will be off the map again this weekend when the Jets take on the Buffalo Bills due to a lingering
hamstring injury.
The only full game which Revis took part in this season took place on week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. During the week of practices following the game, Revis complained of tightness in his hamstring and was limited in practice but reassured everyone
it wouldn't keep him out of the lineup.
Faced with the dubious task of covering New England wideout Randy Moss in week two, Revis pulled himself out midway through the contest due to his aggravated hamstring. Revis was then out of the lineup against the Miami Dolphins the following week and will
miss the game this Sunday against the Bills.
When asked about Revis' condition, Jets head coach Rex Ryan stated, "His rehab's been outstanding. A hamstring is a thing you don't want to rush back, especially if you're a corner. As bad as we want him to play, we want him to play all season.
"If he plays this game and then re-injures it, now we lose him for another six games or something like that. That would be devastating to our team."
A battered Jets defence will again have to rely on Antonio Cromartie and rookie Kyle Wilson at the corner spot. Although the Jets have managed to win their last two games they are ranked 27th in pass defence which is nowhere near where they want, or expect,
to be. Last season the Jets had the league's top rated defence including the NFL's best pass defence – due in large part to Revis who has become known as the NFL's best lockdown cornerback, and has now taken part in two consecutive Pro Bowls.
