New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan ‘fine’ with being chosen as the most overrated coach – NFL News
A day after being ranked the most overrated coach in the National Football League (NFL), New York Jets head coach brushed aside the matter on Wednesday, November 07, 2012.
The survey, conducted by The Sporting News among 103 players from 27 different league teams, showed Ryan on top with 35 votes, more than twice the amount acquired by New England Patriots Bill Belichick, who got the second position. Giving his comments about
the poll, Ryan said:
"My first thought was, I looked at it and I saw who was second, I was like, 'Hey, I finally beat Belichick in something.' I knew it would take time, but I finally got him."
It is not the first time that Ryan has fired up his rivalry against Belichick. However, he would have been very happy if he had got ahead of him on the field.
Ever since Ryan has joined the Jets as head coach, the team has finished second in the American Football Conference (AFC) East with Patriots always on top.
Ryan is not the only overrated member of the Gang Green as backup quarterback Tim Tebow has also been ranked by his fellow professionals as the most overrated player in the league.
In his usual manner, Ryan asserted that he would finish among top two if players were asked which coach they want to play under. Ryan said:
"Poll the same players about who they'd want to play for, and I'll probably end up where I always do -- right at the top with (Mike) Tomlin, (It would be) either me or Mike Tomlin, one of two. We're the guys they want to play for. I don't think that would
change. I don't care. As long as they want to come here and play, if I'm overrated, that's fine."
Ryan’s current players must give their best in Week 10 game against Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, November 11. Jets (3-5) need to win this game in order to save their season.
