New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan furious about comments given by teammates for Tim Tebow – NFL News
New York Jets’ problems inside the locker room are getting bigger and bigger. Head coach Rex Ryan came out on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, to discuss the matter regarding the comments given by several anonymous Jets player about backup quarterback Tim Tebow.
Ryan said that it was a cowardly act by a player to criticise his teammate in public without having guts to mention his name.
An anonymous player from the defensive team was quoted in Wednesday’s edition of the New York Daily News saying that the backup quarterback had been “terrible” this season. In response to those comments, Ryan said:
"If you're going to make a negative (comment), that's fine ... but put your name to it. This team is coming together. This team is not going to be pulled apart by outside people. (Tebow) never came in here to be the starting quarterback. I thought I was
clear on that."
Ryan had a long meeting with all the players on Wednesday morning and gave a message loud and clear that he would not withstand any such behaviour again.
It is not the first time Tebow has come under fire, but on this occasion his fellow players have lashed out against him.
However, Tebow remained calm and hoped to rectify the problems pointed out by his teammates to get better on the field. Tebow said:
"I think there was some frustration and some sadness. It's never fun to hear criticism. At the same time, it's something I've always used as motivation. You try to get stronger from it."
As the 2012 season is entering its final stage, things are again falling apart in the Jets’ camp, just like it happened last season.
Ryan made it his priority before the start of the season to integrate the team into one unit. However, looking at the current situation, it looks as if the team has not improved in this department.
Many players including starting quarterback Mark Sanchez have come out and condemned the way Tebow has been criticised.
