New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan impressed with QBs Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez - NFL News
New York Jets head coach, Rex Ryan is already taken with Tebow-Mania as he watched the quarterback practice at the training ground for the first time.
Speaking to reporters at a charity event Ryan seemed highly impressed by the physical condition of both his quarterbacks, Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez.
According to ESPN the coach told the assembled media at the event that Tebow was “outstanding” in practice.
"Same thing with Mark (Sanchez). Both those guys are in phenomenal shape."
This was the first time Ryan got to see Tebow in practice as according to the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) coaches cannot be present on the training field during the first phase of the voluntary workouts.
The head coach also mentioned Tebow’s recent addition as one of the Top 100 players in the National Football League (NFL) and praised the player’s abilities.
"That's really saying something about the young man," Ryan said. "Everybody recognizes the competitiveness. The guy's a winner, no question. People get tired of me saying it, but how do you not describe this guy as a football player?
"That's what he is. He's got size, he's got strength, he's got speed and he can throw the football."
Tebow had a brilliant 2011-12 season with the Denver Broncos after he changed their season around completely as he led the team to some amazing fourth quarter comeback victories.
The Broncos ended the season with an 8-8 record and captured the American Football Conference (AFC) West division title.
Tebow also helped Denver defeat his current team last year after a game winning 95-yard drive and coach, Rex Ryan cannot forget that drive.
"I saw enough of Tebow last year, to be honest with you. I still see that last drive."
Now Ryan is expecting similar pieces of magic from Tebow for the Jets.
Tebow will be part of the wildcat offence and will provide a plan B for the franchise but will remain backup for the Jets behind starter Mark Sanchez.
The Jets ended last season with an 8-8 record and this year will be looking to improve on that as they look to return back to the playoffs.
