New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan indicates Tim Tebow may run wildcat in Week 15 – NFL News
After saying that backup quarterback Tim Tebow will not run the wildcat scheme against Tennessee Titans in Week 15 on Monday, December 17, 2012, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has now backed out of his comments and has indicated that the wildcat package
might resume during Monday Night Football.
Talking to the media after practice on Friday, December 14, Ryan said that Tebow could participate in the wildcat formation as well as in the position of punt protector and on special teams. Giving his analysis on the fitness condition of Tebow, Ryan said:
"He moved around great. This is the best he's looked in several weeks, so we'll see. There could be a chance he does the Wildcat. He moved around that good that we may get him back in similar roles."
Tebow took part in the entire practice sessions both on Thursday and Friday. It was the first time that Tebow managed to get full practice ever since he injured his ribs in Week 10 against Seattle Seahawks.
The comments made by Ryan seem to be surprising as Tebow has only participated in the non-tackling practice sessions.
However, Ryan might be trying to surprise Titans so as to make them plan for the wildcat package.
Ryan has admitted that it will be a tough decision to put Tebow on the field after nearly a month without contact. Ryan went on and said:
"There's no doubt, that's true, but looking at the way he's throwing the football and the way he's moving - before, it was kind of like, you could almost tell he wasn't real sure. Now I can't see a visible difference from the start of the year to right now.
If he continues to look like this and even improve, then maybe we can have him in a similar role."
Tebow was also available for the media and said that he will wear a flak jacket if sent to the field on Monday. The player has taken many snaps in the wildcat formation during the practice sessions this week.
