New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan to possibly activate three quarterback for Week 14 game – NFL News
Considering the uncertainty behind New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow’s availability for Week 14 game against Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Rex Ryan has indicated that the team could go on road with all three quarterbacks activated.
Ryan hinted that Tebow still has little chance to play in the game on Sunday, December 09, 2012, but his availability would be a game-time decision. Tebow has been suffering from broken ribs since Week 10 game against Seattle Seahawks.
During his press conference on Friday, December 07, Ryan revealed that Tebow’s injury is healing day by day and the quarterback is now able to throw from his natural left arm. Ryan said:
"He's done more this week in practice, quite a bit more. We want to see how he travels, what he feels like on game day, probably work him out before the game just to make sure he's ready to go before we make that decision.”
If Tebow fails to get fit enough to play on Sunday, Ryan will then have to activate third-tier quarterback Greg McElroy who scored the winning points during 7-6 victory over Arizona Cardinals in Week 13.
Quarterback Mark Sanchez has already been given the starting role after the player was benched last week due to poor show on the field. Indicating the likelihood of playing with three quarterbacks Ryan said:
"There's a possibility you could go with three quarterbacks for this game as well.”
Ryan also surprisingly revealed that even if Tebow remains available, it is highly unlikely that he will play in the Wildcat formation or punt protection. Ryan went on and said:
"Sometimes when you have Tim doing a lot of Wildcat stuff we'll actually have some Wildcat periods. I don't want to say we don't have any Wildcat up ... I kind of blew that there."
Looking at the current situation, it looks possible that Tebow will go to his hometown with Jets. However, it is highly unlikely that the player will get the opportunity to have snaps in the game.
