New York Jets hope to get their offensive going as Indianapolis Colts visit – NFL Week 6 Preview
The first five weeks of the season have been unexpected for New York Jets, especially because of the injuries they have faced. They are now seeking resurrection in Week 6 as they face rejuvenated Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Met Life
Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ.
Colts, on the other hand, will look to continue their winning run after getting a passionate victory last week in absence of ill head coach Chuck Pagano.
Jets’ offensive meltdown has been taking place ever since the season has started. Their starting quarterback Mark Sanchez has seen one of the worst spells in his career this season.
Also, the once highly rated wildcat package featuring Tim Tebow has failed to live up to the expectations.
The injuries have also played a big role in the Jets’ struggle on offence and defence. They are without their best players in both defensive and offensive teams.
Wide receiver Santonio Holmes is out for the rest of the season, and the same is the case with defensive end Darrelle Revis.
The defence did show some form in the Jets’ last game that was against Houston Texans. Jets lost that game by 17-23. However, the defence is still second last in the league in terms of allowing rushing yards, averaging 172 yards per game.
Jets’ running game needs a boost after averaging a disappointing 3.2 yards per carry this season. Talking about running game, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said:
“We just have to block, we have to open things up and get some running room, that’s the main thing. I don’t know if you have whoever as your running back, we have to create some running room. I think that’s the big thing, that’s what we’re working on.”
At the time when Jets are worried about their quarterback position, Colts are excited about their future prospect who is giving an outstanding output.
Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck is becoming more and more influential in the Colts ranks as the season is progressing.
The no. 1 overall pick showed his capabilities last week as Jets beat the mighty Green Bay Packers by 30-27. Colts Interim coach Bruce Arians was impressed by the output of Luck.
Colts defence could become the game changer for Jets on Sunday, as it does not have many experienced players.
