New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott lashes out at team critics – NFL News
After winning the season opener against Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 09, 2012, New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott took the opportunity to lash out at his team’s critics.
Jets looked quite the opposite team during the game as compared to their offseason and easily won the game, 48-28.
Scott expressed anger over media analysts who had immensely criticised Jets for their lacklustre performances in the offseason. After the game, Scott talked with the USA Today and said:
"You guys treat us like we're a (bleeping) joke. You all want us to feed your papers, but then you all talk (bleep) about us. So why would I want to give you all quotes to sell papers with if you all treat us like (bleep)? That doesn't make sense.”
The ire showed by Scott comes after Jets were criticised by many media outlets. Jets took a strong notion on all those occasions. Last week the New York Post published a picture on their front page showing Jets head coach Rex Ryan, quarterback Mark Sanchez
and Tim Tebow as clowns.
Jets finished the preseason without a win in any of the four games played. However, Jets managed to break their franchise record on Sunday by scoring their highest-ever number of points in a season opener.
Moreover, the Jets offence looked fantastic with Sanchez scoring three touchdowns, while their defence looked like a very cohesive unit.
Three of Jets cornerbacks recorded interceptions. Scott said that the team is ready to take off and will be even better next week. According to ESPN, Scott said:
"We're just grinding, man. We're gonna keep digging, get in this trench and keep working hard, man. We got a tough opponent (Pittsburgh) next week. We're not happy with this, we know what we came for and we don't care what other people think about us."
Although Scott’s furiousness might seem understandable after getting severe beating from media in the offseason, he and the rest of the Jets will have to be much more efficient to get the same type of result again next week.
