New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott ready for the upcoming season – NFL News
After a deplorable end to the last season, New York Jets linebacker Brat Scott is set to make a fresh start in the 2012 season.
Scott has been working very hard this offseason to return to his previous physique. He has reduced 15 pounds during the last few months.
Scott is hoping to get back to his previous best, meaning there will be some strong words coming from his mouth throughout the upcoming season.
Talking to the Daily News on Saturday, September 01, 2012, Scott was very vocal and was not hesitant to express his emotions. He explosively said:
“You guys tried to throw dirt on me. My prognosis: I’m going to ball out.”
Scott has the reputation of being very vocal in front of media. Although one might think that this is a sign of frustration building, in Scott’s case it gives the impression that the player is ready to take on the assignment he has been given with fullest
zeal.
Scott had a frustrating 2011 season. He was unable to get many plays. There was a considerable lack of speed, the skill for which he is famous.
He also got under scrutiny during the last game of the season when he showed an obscene gesture to a photographer on the sidelines. Jets fined him $10,000 for his inappropriate behaviour.
Scott has been working out ways to improve his game with head coach Rex Ryan. The addition of rookie linebacker DeMario Davis has also motivated him to increase his production. Scott said:
“We addressed what we felt were things I should and could improve on. I took them to heart and went and worked on them. . . . I wasn’t in the playoffs. My body had time to heal. And I had time to work on my game.”
Coach Ryan himself has been looking forward to Scott having a leading role in the defence this season. Ryan said:
“He’s moving quicker. I love the way he’s communicating. He’s always talking.”
Scott, 32, has played 10 seasons in the league. He joined New York Jets in 2009 after spending seven years with the Baltimore Ravens.
