New York Jets owner Woody Johnson disappointed with 3-6 record – NFL News
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has not been very vocal in the last few weeks. However, he was available to the reporters after practice session on Thursday, November 15, 2012, and had many topics to share his thoughts about.
Johnson expressed dissatisfaction about the way his team has played this season. During the interview, Johnson said:
"I didn't sign up for a 3-6 season. We haven't had one of these in a while. I'm not happy about it, yet I'm optimistic that some of these things can be corrected. (I'm) in a lot of pain this week – again. It's tough, tough to lose any game, particularly
as many games as we've lost this year."
Jets are currently facing quite a lot of issues. The locker room is looking like a mess, just like the last season.
Things went way out of hand when some anonymous Jets players earlier in the week blasted teammate Tim Tebow for not giving enough on the field.
Johnson also talked about the rumours that he forced general manager Mike Tannenbaum to sign Tebow this offseason.
The owner maintained that Tannenbaum had the final say about signing the player and that the motive to sign Tebow was not to sell tickets, but to get better on the field.
However, he declined to comment on Tebow’s performance saying that he will not share his views about individuals, but rather analyse the roster as a whole.
Although he tried to remain optimistic about the team’s prospect this season, he did feel being let down by the team after getting defeats consistently.
Ever since going out of the playoffs in the 2010 season, Jets have been down the hill. Not only they have lost many games this season, but they have lost by big margins.
Johnson made it clear that there was absolutely no chance that he would make changes in the head coach and general manager position. When asked how satisfied he was with the performance of Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan, Johnson replied:
"The record says what's going on. We're a 3-6 team. Are we happy? Are they happy? Are the players happy? I know the fans aren't happy. The answer is no, we're not happy. We're not happy with 3-6."
