New York Jets owner Woody Johnson will "look at" featuring in Hard Knocks - NFL News
New York Jets it seems cannot get enough coverage already.
Making waves across sports media with their recent acquisition of Tim Tebow it seems is not enough for the Jets as they look ready to feature once again on HBO’s training camp programme “Hard Knocks”.
Franchise owner Woody Johnson in an interview on Monday, said that the franchise will think hard about signing up for the new season of the successful television show which featured the Jets in 2010.
"I've heard [the speculation], but we've yet to receive a formal invitation. And when we do, we will take a look at it."
Adding further he said.
"I think all those concerns, the positives and negatives, we'd have to look at, sit around the table and say yay or nay. It's not a perfect science. But we'd use our best judgment at that point."
The Jets already dominate news media thanks to tebow-mania while their locker room dysfunctions also provide some great sound bites for journalists.
However, doing the programme at this moment when the franchise is looking to rebuild dressing room unity will according to most analysts is an unwelcome distraction.
The Jets were criticised for doing the show in 2010 but the franchise silenced all critics after reaching the American Football Conference (AFC) championship game for a second year in a row.
This time though the situation could not be different with the Jets missing out on the playoffs after an 8-8 record and infighting between quarterback Mark Sanchez and receiver Santonio Holmes.
However, tight end, Dustin Keller believes that doing the show will not in any way be a negative and the added attention could help the team do much better in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
"If there's something that's good for the team, why not do it?"
Adding further he said.
"If anything, when you have all those cameras pointed at you, it makes you want to push yourself that much more ... It definitely can't hurt."
Hard Knocks did not air last season due to the National Football League (NFL) lockout but the show’s producers are ready to make a new instalment before the start of this season and with everything going on at the New York Jets they make the perfect fit
for the show.
