New York Jets plan team building exercises for new season - NFL News
New York Jets are looking to take the players on team building exercises before the start of the new 2012-13 season to develop unity and cohesion amongst the players.
According to Guard Matt Slauson who talked with the media after attending a news conference at the Met Life stadium, the Jets are currently working on multiple ideas to create synergy amongst the players after a 2011-12 season marred by internal strife and
locker room tension among the team.
"I have been talking to some guys about if we are going to do some team-building stuff, and there are guys brainstorming right now, but there is nothing official now."
Well it’s about time.
Slauson went on to add that,
"Absolutely we are all focusing on next year now. We're not worried about all of that drama that happened last year. We are focusing on next year and getting better and doing what we can to get in the Super Bowl."
New York Jets, the other more dysfunctional team of the Big Apple had an inconsistent season which saw them miss out on the playoffs for the first time under head coach Rex Ryan.
The team fell apart completely in January as players went public with their grievances against each other with many blaming quarterback Mark Sanchez for his lack of leadership and application.
Hopefully for the Jets the team building exercises will help put behind any ill feelings the players have against each other for the good of the collective.
Seeing their two biggest rivals, New England Patriots and New York Giants going head to head in the Super Bowl XLVI should be motivation enough for them.
For Slauson seeing those two teams in the Super Bowl hurt bad and he wants the Jets to get their act together.
“That's our goal and we fell short, but we are all excited about next year."
The New York Jets looked to be on their way to a playoff spot but collapsed late in the season losing their final three games including a humbling 29-14 defeat to the New York Giants as they missed out on a wildcard spot.
