New York Jets players anticipating quarterback Mark Sanchez to be among top ten quarterbacks – NFL News
Although facing competition from the most popular backup quarterback Tim Tebow, New York Jets’ starting quarterback Mark Sanchez has been backed by his fellow teammates to have a breakout season.
Sanchez has been phenomenal this offseason and has impressed many of his teammates. Guys in the defence team recently came forward to say some words of appreciation for Sanchez, even so considering him to finish in the list of top ten quarterbacks this season.
It was linebacker Bart Scott who was asked what changes in Sanchez felt would be seen on the field. He said:
"I think everybody has seen a difference in how he walks, how he handles it if he throws a bad ball, how he carries himself. I think that really shows confidence. But it also helps and inspires his players because they respond because he's their leader,
and they're going to go as he goes."
At the start of this offseason, many questions were raised about the future of Sanchez as he was coming from a terrible season. These doubts became more prominent when Jets added Tebow on the roster.
Yet all those concerns were sidelined when Jets announced that Sanchez would be their starting quarterback.
Jets have also given Sanchez a three-year, $40.5 million contract extension that will keep him till 2016. Sanchez has previously said that he wants to prove the doubters wrong.
Getting into top ten this season looks to be a distant possibility for Sanchez as he finished at the 23rd spot out of 34 in the NFL along with 78.5 rating for last season.
Scott is not the only guy in the defensive team who seems positive about Sanchez. Darrelle Revis also supported Scott’s stance and said:
"The quarterback needs to take us there, and we're counting on Mark to do that. The biggest thing is, we're very confident in Mark and we know he can lead us. He's done it in the past, and we're counting on him."
Sanchez produced his career-best performance last season with 26 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
