New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez expects to be among top 10 quarterbacks – NFL News
After going through training camp with ease, New York Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez is now aiming high.
Sanchez looks to play a dominating role in the offence and is hoping to raise his game. Taking a time off during training camp, Sanchez stepped forward and talked with the media.
When asked about his teammate linebacker Bart Scott remarks, Sanchez expressed agreement to his statement. Sanchez said:
"Sure, you have to think that, you have to play like that. As soon as you step on the field, you have to be the baddest guy out there -- the toughest, the best, the most accurate, and you have to want to win."
Sanchez started training camp with clouds lingering over his starting quarterback position. He had to absorb the pressure that he was getting from the most popular backup quarterback in the league Tim Tebow.
Sanchez has shown no sign of sloppiness during the entire training camp and has clearly come out as a leader. He showed the toughness needed to make the game on his own. Sanchez said:
"When you come in the huddle, not to be selfish here, but this is my huddle. That takes a little bit of leadership, a little bit of experience and it's not the easiest thing to do. It's not necessarily in my genetic makeup to start yelling at guys.”
This toughness is against Sanchez’s personality. He is famous for his calm and cool behaviour on and off the field.
Sanchez will have to make some striking progress this season if he really wants to have a chance of getting into the list of top ten quarterbacks.
Sanchez was very inconsistent last season and still needs to improve his game to a great extent.
Sanchez was ranked 23rd in the quarter ranking last season. He produced his career-best performance with 26 touchdowns, but also got as many as 18 interceptions.
Sanchez will not have the services of his premier wide receiver Santonio Holmes during Saturday’s preseason against the New York Giants. Holmes is out with a rib cartilage injury.
