New York Jets reportedly ready to make any kind of decision for quarterback position – NFL News
Rumours are flying everywhere in the media that the New York Jets are considering all the options regarding who will become their starting quarterback for the 2013 season.
Jets have already made a change as they have made third-string quarterback Greg McElroy the starter for the team’s Week 16 game against San Diego Chargers.
Both quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow have gone out of favour after a miserable season from the players.
Even though, Sanchez is guaranteed to get $8.25 million in the 2013 from the Jets, the team is willing to lose big sum of money to get rid of the quarterback recently known for his famous “Butt Fumble”.
Sanchez has thrown 50 turnovers in the last two seasons, which is in stark contrast of his performance in his first two seasons in the league during which he took the team to the playoffs. Talking about Sanchez’ benching for this week, Jets head coach Rex
Ryan said:
“Again, that didn’t come from me or anything else. Anything that is dealing with the future past Buffalo, I think will be handled, obviously, after that. So whatever the decision will be, will be handled then. It’s not something that I’m concerned with or
right now. We have two games to play and that’s where my focus is. So that’s news to me.”
Meanwhile, reports are coming that Tebow is ready to leave the Gang Green in order to go in a franchise where he will be able to get more playing time.
Tebow has been limited to a mere 39 passing yards this season. The dynamic player has also got a meagre playing time in the wildcat package.
The backup has shown his frustration for not getting the starting spot after the benching of Sanchez. However, Tebow has not yet made his intentions publicly to leave the Jets. Tebow is tied with the Jets till the 2014 season.
Meanwhile, Ryan has kept his silence about the matter. Talking to the New York Daily News, Ryan said:
"You know the policy of this organization is not to discuss those things until after the season...  I'll be honest with you, If we had Tom Brady, I'd be happy with that. We don't."
