New York Jets return after bye week to face Seattle Seahawks in Week 10 – NFL Preview
New York Jets will be back on the field as they go on road to face rolling Seattle Seahawks in Week 10 game on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Washington.
Jets (3-5) are coming off their bye with hopes to revive their season. It is a must-win game for them in order to stand any chance of reaching the playoffs.
Seahawks (5-4) are currently in a good position as they stand second in the National Football Conference (NFC) West.
It will take some hard work by Jets to go on top of the Seahawks, who have a very good record at home.
Jets have been struggling in the offensive side of the game as quarterback Mark Sanchez has failed to provide good plays.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan indicated earlier this week that there could be some changes in the offensive style of play. Ryan said:
“There are a lot easier places to play than Seattle, I’ll tell you that much. We have this week to get this team as prepared as we possibly can and let’s see what happens. I’m excited about getting a lot of our players back.”
Seahawks, who are led by former Jets head coach Pete Carroll, are very satisfied with the progress of their rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Talking about Wilson, wide receiver Golden Tate said:
“Every single week, he always gets better. Any coaching points they stress, he always makes sure he gives great effort in fixing them and doing it the way they ask. He’s a driven guy who wants to be the best. He’s developed into the leader of our team, so
I’m excited to play with him and watch him grow.”
Wide receiver Sidney Rice is also in good form as he has caught 32 passes for 421 yards and has scored four touchdowns.
The running game is also doing well, covering an average of 138.9 yards per game. However, they will face some tough opposition from Jets defence which is still recovering from the pains of missing many of their important starters.
The defence has been the reason behind the Seahawks success. They have given away a mere 17.1 points per game this season which is the third-best in the league.
Rookie defensive end Bruce Irvin has become an integral part of the team. He has scored five sacks already this season.
Jets defence is also not far behind, but has been struggling to stop the opposing run defence in absence of cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Rookie defensive end Quinton Coples has shown his marvels in many occasions, but needs to be more consistent in stopping the run. Overall, Seahawks have a slight upper hand in front of Jets.
