New York Jets right tackle Wayne Hunter has "clean slate" with WR Santonio Holmes
New York Jets are looking to move ahead from last year’s problems as they continue to prepare for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
The change in locker room relations from last year could not be starker as players who just a few months ago feuded fiercely with each other are now back to being good friends.
Quarterback, Mark Sanchez and wide receiver, Santonio Holmes have reignited their friendship after falling out last season.
Right tackle, Wayne Hunter who also had a verbal fight with Holmes during the final game of the 2011-12 season against Miami Dolphins has also buried the hatchet and is looking forward to once again take to the field with Holmes in the new season.
Speaking with the press pack in the Jets locker room Hunter said that he went up to Holmes during the first day of the offseason and reset his relationship.
According to the Star-Ledger, Hunter said.
"We came up to each other and I told him 'clean slate,' and he's been great,"
Adding further he said.
"Tone has been great. He's been doing extra stuff that people won't believe. He's been doing extra stuff with Mark (Sanchez), he's been doing stuff that he hasn't done in the past. He's been a team player, and it's been a good change."
That is exactly what the franchise needs to bounce back after last season’s catastrophe.
The Jets failed to win their last three must-win games and missed out on the playoffs as they ended up with a poor 8-8 record.
That failure was more due to the lack of chemistry between players and the players are trying hard this year to put behind their past problems.
Hunter went on to say that he is ready to improve his performance after a poor campaign last year.
"That's what I was, I was the weakest link last year. This year it's a whole different mentality, I played like a rookie last year and this year I'm playing like a nine-year veteran."
It will be interesting to follow the Jets this season and hopefully this new chemistry will help the team perform much better than last season.
