New York Jets safety LaRon Landry surprised with speed of recovery from injuries - NFL News
Achilles injuries take a long time to heal up and even when they do it takes time for a player to settle back into his old rhythm.
However, that is not the case with New York Jets safety, LaRon Landry, who has struggled with both Achilles and heel injuries over the past two seasons.
Landry is currently continuing his rehabilitation and on Wednesday said that he was shocked with the pace with which he is progressing on the road to recovery.
The safety underwent a stem cell treatment, in Arizona where he was working on rehabbing alone, called AmnioMatrix and later also had a Platelet rich-Plasma injection to help him recover faster from his injuries.
On Wednesday, he finally met up with his new Jets teammates and was pleased with the way his recovery has started to progress.
"I'm progressing and things are looking real well -- I was kind of shocked myself,"
Adding further he said.
"Unfortunately, I'm not there yet, but I'm not taking any steps back. Everything is progressing right now and I feel great about it."
The safety will take his time with the rehab and will not be practicing with the Jets at the team’s mandatory minicamp this week.
It still is doubtful whether the player will participate in the Jets training camp which begins on July 26th but coach Rex Ryan seems highly impressed with the way his player his coming around.
Speaking to the media after training, Ryan said.
"LaRon is way ahead of where our trainers thought he'd be. He thought it was best he work out with people who are very familiar with him, and you kind of worry about that a little bit. But it's a real positive that he's come back and he's obviously done
a lot of work there.”
Landry signed for the Jets in March on a new one-year deal and will replace Jim Leonhard who was released by the Jets after the end of the 2011-12 season.
The Jets are banking on their safety to deliver in the new season but it remains to be seen whether Landry will be able to overcome his long running problems with injury.
