New York Jets season analysis till Week 15 of the 2012 season – NFL Feature Part 2
Jets got a 2-2 record after Week 4 and things got to a turbulent start as they gave dominating performance in the first two games while they produced two diminishing performances in the defeats.
Things remained up and down for the Gang Green as they faced issues from injuries to poor performance by the quarterback.
Turnovers put up a big burden on the team during these games as the defence failed to get the possession of the ball from the opposing teams.
Week 5:
Jets got their second defeat in a row as they got a 17-23 routing by mighty Houston Texans in Week 5.
The interesting thing about the game was that it marked the Texans first-ever victory over the Gang Green.
Jets running defence was completely ripped apart by Texans running back Arian Foster who carried the ball 29 times for 152 rushing yards and a score.
The offence had a relatively good day on the field as running back Joe McKnight got a 100-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown.
Week 6:
Jets rushing game put up a blistering performance as they thrashed Indianapolis Colts 35-9 in Week 6.
Running back Shonn Greene produced a big performance at the time Jets really needed one. He carried the ball 32 times for 161 yards and scored as many as three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sanchez gave an efficient performance, but the quarterback had limited influence on the field. He completed 11 out 18 passes for just 82 yards and scored two touchdowns. Tebow again had just a single snap in the entire game.
Despite coping up with injuries, the defence did well in keeping the no. 1 overall pick of this year’s draft Andrew Luck under control for most of the game.
Week 7: New England Patriots
It was a competition between the top two teams of the American Football Conference (AFC) East as Jets faced New England Patriots in Week 7.
Jets showed a tremendous resilience against Patriots who were not playing at their best level during that part of the season.
The Gang Green took the game into overtime, but failed to get the winning points as Patriots won the game 23-20.
Jets kicker Nick Folk was the star of the show as he scored four field goals in the regulation to keep his team under contention for winning the game.
Fumbles led the way for the downfall of Jets’ offence in this game. Sanchez completed 28 out of 41 passes for 328 yards and scored a touchdown.
Week 8: Miami Dolphins
As Jets prepared to head into bye week in Week 9, they faced another division rivals Miami Dolphins for the second time this season in Week 8.
Jets were hoping to get a season sweep over Dolphins. However, things did not end up the way they had expected as Dolphins gave them a 30-9 battering.
Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore easily ripped apart the Jets injury-plagued defence. Moore scored a touchdown and covered 131 yards on 11 completions.
Sanchez finished the game with 28 of 54 for 283 yards and a touchdown. Rushing game continued its good run of form as Greene averaged 5.1 rushing yards per carry.
Wide receiver Clyde Gates received seven passes for 82 yards as passing game faltered again.
